Post divorce, Mortimer is devastated by the news of his court case getting out to the world- everybody now believes that Mortimer abused Bella. Alexander stayed with Bella and Skip Broke. Despite knowing that Skip faked his death, Mortimer is too depressed to do anything about this injustice. Besides, he doesn’t want Brandi to lose her home that she paid for with the insurance money.
Mortimer, lost and alone, decided to move back in with his parents Gunther and Cornelia.
It took a lot of convincing, but Mortimer finally convinced Cornelia to let him turn her dog’s bedroom into his own room.
Mortimer sits quietly contemplating everything that happened. His reputation is in shambles, his house now belongs to Bella, and his children are both living in separate houses from him.
Cornelia spends most of her time tending to her two dogs and baking. While Gunther is discouraged that Mortimer has returned home after all these years, Cornelia couldn’t be more delighted.
Gunther is infuriated that Mortimer let things get this far with Bella. Whether the rumours are true is the least of his concerns, the family reputation has been tarnished, and he’s livid!
Cornelia has been constantly baking breads, cakes, and any treat that she remembers Mortimer loving from his youth.
Mortimer appreciates Cornelia’s caring gestures, especially when the rest of the world has turned against him entirely.
