Skyrim Skyline Horizon

Spread the love

I’ve been a Sims 2 player since the game came out (or at least, shortly after because the game was expensive at first, and then my mom had to upgrade our computer back in the day to a whopping 20gb of storage). Despite my love of game mods, and a background in Graphic Design, I’ve never combined the two (weird, huh?). So this week I worked tirelessly on learning how to turn Criquette’s horizons into my own workable Skyrim skyline for the game. This file is NOT season-changing, but I plan to learn how to do that too in the future.

I made this by cutting and pasting various Skyrim images together, and then custom blended, cut, and edited them together to create what I feel is a mostly seamless background. It’s by no means perfect, but I do love how it turned out. I am personally not a fan of cartoony type CC, and am more of an Alpha girl. A lot of the previously made horizons are based on Sims 3, and I am not a huge fan of that aesthetic. Nothing wrong them them, they’re great, just not the art style I prefer.

The sky is either from Lowdeus or iCad. I use these mods interchangeably. I used GreatCheeseCakePersona’s file as a template for the horizon. If you’ve never installed skies before, please familiarize yourself with them. You can get a lot of great starter stuff here: Sancta Sanctorum – The Great Sky of Totalitarianism (REDUX) REDUX… (tumblr.com)

How to install

IMPORTANT – have the sky fix mod: SkyFix – simNopke (tumblr.com)

Ensure you have a sky to go with it. I like the ones from iCad:

Put the file in your downloads folder. It will be under Misc in the hood tools once you’re in game.

There is some blurriness to the file. That’s the trade-off using the highly realistic textures from Skyrim Special Edition. If you want a completely soft theme, you’re better off with one of the other hood decos out there that’s more cartoony. I’m going to work on getting this sharper, but I still think it looks good.

Place, and your sky/clouds of choice, at edges of hoods. You can line them up to get your desired edges.

Special thanks to GreatCheeseCakePersona because their guides were completely necessary for this project.

The file is zipped.

I've been playing The Sims since 2004. I've played every iteration, but the Sims 2 will always remain as my very favourite. I'm passionate about getting others involved in playing the Sims 2 and sharing my stories, as well as trying my hand at CC. But, I also love the other Sims games (Castaway Stories anybody?)
